Summary:
Soli Deo Gloria Care Centre for the traumatic wounded is a non-profit, interdenominational, opportunity Christian organization. To provide, educate and develop the homeless / disadvantaged & current residents at Soli Deo Gloria Care Centre.
It is an ongoing program and project for people in need, due to the mad economic situation in our country causing unemployment and pure financial pressure amongst businesses and citizens affected.
We walk the extra mile in making a difference in preventing and alleviating Poverty in Lydenburg and surrounding areas by taking care of the poor and needy people. Looking after their welfare and wellbeing, by providing them with: –
- A roof over their heads;
- Food on their table and
- Shoes on their feet.
One of our current houses
Soli Deo Gloria Care Centre came to life when I, Gerda Venter, took over Lelievlei Crisis Camp in April 2017, which was neglected and mismanaged by the appointed Management by Council.
The name was changed to Soli Deo Gloria and everything else was changed for the better.
Being Hands of Hope we worked hand in hand with local leaders and Welfare organisations such as CMR Lydenburg, RATA, SAPS, Home Affairs, SASSA and the local Ministers Council, to develop a comprehensive plan to eradicate the devastating conditions associated with extreme poverty.
Our goal is to help as many traumatized people / individuals as we possibly can, to prevent and alleviate human suffering and to help the homeless, disadvantaged Christians grow in their faith.
Our mission is to give entire communities the sustainable tools they need to feed families, educate children, improve health and become economically self-sufficient. Providing counselling / mentorship and support services to the residents.
Our vision is to be an organisation that remains responsive to community needs. We therefore want to be a place to offer our people: –
A Place of Care
A Place of Hope
A Place of Life in Abundance
A Place of Transformation

Soli Deo Gloria Care Centre does not receive any government funding and rely on the support of our communities and private donors. We have a list of donors who makes small contributions towards the day to day running and maintenance of Soli Deo Gloria, which includes private companies and individuals, friends and family.
We also receive food from Checkers as part of the Nosh – Food Rescue Project.
Soli Deo Gloria Care Centre residents pay a small monthly contribution towards their accommodation and in return we provide them with a roof over their head and three balanced meals a day.
We also provide them with basic toiletries, clothes and linen, blankets and every so often something to make their homes beautiful.
Soli Deo Gloria Care Centre is not registered with any organizations, due to the fact that we facilitate more than one welfare project.
We care for Ninety-five (95) people, who include the following: –
-
Elderly
-
Mental & Physically disabled
-
Homeless & Poor
-
Battered women and children
We are however closely working with CMR Lydenburg, RATA and Department of Social Development, who is assisting us with the social development of each family and resident who needs help.
We are very proud of our vegetable garden which is one of our self-sufficiency projects.
We are able to eat fresh vegetables on a daily basis. The vegetable garden also gives an opportunity for people to learn how to grow their own food.
Soli Deo Gloria residents each receives a duty. In the performing of their duties, they get the chance to uplift their spirits, grow their self-esteem and maintain their dignity.
They also do needlework and woodwork. But, we need workshops. Our projects for uplifting the community includes the following: –
Built 10 new cement Houses with own ablution’s
Electricity Installation of solar power in the office, dining hall and kitchen. As well as solar lights in the bathrooms.
Upgrading of wendy houses We still need more wendy’s for the growing need
Kids are all going to school Nursery, Primary and Secondary school
Clinic Still an urgent need
Transport We have bus, but need a 16 seater (we use it to take kids to School and people to hospital)

Future project objectives is to obtain a brick making machine which allows for the fathers & men to provide building blocks for new rooms and a loan portfolio to help local people build businesses generate stable income for their families. These are just examples.
We are a strong team, working hard to help those in need to become the people they are meant to be, with what we have in our stores and in our hearts.
We have overcome many obstacles and there is still a lot of work to be done, but with God on our side we can achieve many great things.
Do you care? Do you feel it in your heart to give towards this excellent project?
